Junior School
We set high expectations and strive to instill an enthusiasm for knowledge, a positive and brave ‘can do’ attitude when embracing challenges and a genuine love of learning. Our dedicated teachers ensure that each student feels connected, valued, engaged and challenged at all times.
Transition to Prep
Prep students enjoy a varied learning experience, including stand alone Science and French classes, giving them the best start to their educational journey.
Co-curricular activities such as outdoor education, visual and performing arts, and technology are also available.
Preps are paired with older junior school students who act as 'buddies' to help them adjust to life at Kilvington.
Kilvington also offers a Before and After School care program. Details at the bottom of the page.
From upper primary, performing arts is broken down into choir, music, and drama. Students also participate in a formal sports program in Years 5 and 6. We also offer mathematics and English enrichment classes for eligible students, plus a range of opportunities are available in our co-curricular program, including chess, robotics, mindfulness, coding, and much more.
Transition to Year 7
To ensure a smooth transition from Year 6 to the Senior School, we have a range of activities designed to prepare students for the move to Year 7.
A Year 7 Parent Information Evening towards the end of Year 6 introduces parents and students to Kilvington’s Senior School Student Wellbeing Program and is a chance for the Year 6 students to begin building their relationship and connection with their Year 7 Mentor and Dean of Wellbeing.
I’ve been at Kilvington since Year 2 and have made many cherished memories, however when the time came to Senior School I was more than a bit apprehensive. The teachers eased us from Year 6 to Year 7, always asking if there was anything that we thought would help. In fact, the whole Kilvington community made the transition so easy.
— Student | Year 6
Year 6 students participate in an orientation program where they spend some time in single gender classes in preparation for the transition. Year 7 students spend time with the Year 6 students to share their experiences and give them the opportunity to ask questions. Our Junior School teachers also provide a detailed handover to their Senior School counterparts. Further information about what your child can expect from Year 7 at Kilvington can be found here.
