Years 10 - VCE
Kilvington’s diverse Senior School programs include the process of inquiry and critical thinking, which allows for multiple perspectives and encourages students to question, reflect, search for answers, apply skills and strive for excellence. Students are engaged in developing learning relationships, learning for achievement, and learning for life.
Year 10
The Year 10 program at Kilvington consists of core subjects and Pathway Subjects. The aim of the program is to provide breadth and depth of study and allow students the opportunity to begin their VCE studies.
* Students may study VCE mathematical methods, Year 10 general mathematics preparation or Year 10 mathematical preparation.
** Selected students only – the Learning Enhancement Program is designed to support students who have English as an additional language, or students who have specific needs.
Students will complete four Pathway Subject units over the course of the year, or two units per semester. Pathway Subjects provide an opportunity for students to pursue studies in subjects in which they have an interest and ability, and to begin their pathway to the completion of the VCE. The Pathway Subjects contain a range of VCE and non-VCE subjects. We encourage students to start their VCE journey by commencing a Unit 1 and 2 VCE subject in Year 10. This helps them build the study skills needed for success at VCE and challenges students to achieve at their personal best.
There are lots of great learning opportunities at Kilvington, and I’ve been fortunate to engage in several of them, such as the Science Talent Search Competition. I’m excited about seeing the impact of women in the science field in the future.

VCE
TRANSITIONING TO VCE
During the post-Year 10 exam period, Kilvington builds on students' future VCE success through an early commencement program. During this time they refine their time management and study skills, both of which will be absolutely essential in the final two years of Senior School.
Several motivational speakers address students during this time focusing on the importance of maintaining focus and dedication in the years ahead. By the end of the early commencement program, students have gained a distinct advantage in terms of their future VCE performance.
Kilvington's VCE program offers an extensive range of VCE subjects designed to provide breadth of study through Units 1 and 2 and depth of study through Units 3 and 4.
All subjects are offered for Units 1 – 4.
* All students must study one English subject from English, Literature or EAL.
The camaraderie and the sense of community are what I love most about Kilvington. Everyone supports each other in all aspects of school life and the students and teachers are all so friendly towards one another, always ensuring everyone feels included and a part of the School.

Student Leadership Program
At Kilvington, we prepare students for the challenges of leadership. There are four major leadership positions at Kilvington: two school co-captains and two school co-vice captains. It is the role of these leaders to publicly represent our school, organise activities, and provide inspiring leadership to other students.
From each house, there are also two Year 12 co-captains and two Year 11 co-vice captains.
In addition, Years 11 and 12 students have opportunities to hold a range of academic and co-curricular leadership positions. These include: English, Science, Humanities, Languages, Art, Music, and Digital Technologies leaders, as well as Christian, Choral, Debating, Sport, Sustainability, Student Mentors, and Robotics leaders.
